Who Is Anetra? The Las Vegas Drag Performer Behind the Duck Walk
If you watched season 15 of RuPaul's Drag Race, you already know my name. If you didn't, here's a quick guide to me and the duck walk, for new members of the team and old ones.
Who am I?
I'm Anetra, a drag performer based in Las Vegas, Nevada. Before drag, there was taekwondo: I trained in the martial art from the age of seven and competed in it, and those kicks became part of my act.
How did I do on Drag Race?
I was one of sixteen performers on season 15, which premiered on January 6, 2023. My run ended in the final two, as runner-up to Sasha Colby, with three challenge wins along the way:
- The talent show in the premiere
- The Rusical, Wigloose, playing Mama Bacon
- The makeover challenge
Why does everyone talk about the duck walk?
My talent show in the premiere mixed duck-walking, taekwondo moves and an original song, the first I had ever recorded. Its line about walking that duck became the catchphrase of the season, and the clip became the most-viewed scene the show had ever posted across its social accounts, with more than 13 million views.
What happened in Las Vegas?
In June 2023, I received the key to the city of Las Vegas, and June 22 was named Anetra Day.
